CHINA MEETS BOLOGNA & ITS COMPANIES
University Of Bologna | Shopping | Art
Word of the marvels of Bologna has reached far indeed, all the way to China. The main Chinese television group CCTV sent a television crew including journalist Sharon Huang and producer Zhao Yue to visit Bologna and visit the various businesses and points of excellence that Bologna offers to the world.
They showed a keen interest in University of Bologna, Lamborghini, Ducati and the art and architecture of Bologna, showing signs that China is moving away from the mass production aspect that has contributed to its massive growth and catapulted them to the forefront of economic power in the last years and is moving towards the search for higher quality and costumer satisfaction.
Their visit was not only to learn more about the various businesses that make their home in Bologna but also to learn more about the history and culture that make Bologna as worthy of an international audience as Venice, Florence and Rome. Bologna and its surrounding Emilia are the perfect example of high quality goods. The region provides the world with some of the finest manufactured goods. Whether it be food: Parmesan cheese, Parma Ham, and Balsamic vinegar; or motoring: Ducati, Lamborghini and Ferrari.
There is little to be surprised that CCTV chose Bologna as its focus point for this research into quality. CCTV's interest in the University also proving insightful, as many of the very students who go to the University of Bologna go on to maintain the incredibly high standards of the industries in Emilia Romagna. The high standard of the University guarantees the future of many companies who recruit from the best of the 80,000 students that are enrolled every year in the University of Bologna.
The University of Bologna is the oldest in western world having been founded in 1088, and has in turn been influencing the region for a long time, maintaining an incredibly high standard of education for such a long time must surely be of great benefit for the surrounding businesses, how else would such a concentration of quality goods be possible?
The crew also visited IMA (Industrial Machine Automation), a company based in Bologna that is world leader in the design and manufaturing of automatic machines for the processing and packaging of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, tea and coffee with a worldwide sales network reaching out to over 70 countries. The chinese TV crew ended their stay in Galleria Cavour, home of Bologna's shopping elite, underneath the lights of great italian brands such as Prada, Gucci, Armani and Bottega Veneta.
A typically Italian event was organised, the world-reknowned "aperitivo", the guest however were far from ordinary. Joining the CCTV television crew were some of Bologna's most illustrious citizens. Alberto Masotti, founder of La Perla; Fabio Roversi Monaco, President of the CarisBo Foundation and driving force behind Genus Bononiae; Ivano Dionigi, the Dean of the University of Bologna; Alberto Vacchi, President of Unindustria and many others. All together to celebrate Bologna's achievements of the past, but mostly for its future.
