COLAZIONE DA BIANCA

Food & Drink | Food Shops | Coffee

Colazione da Bianca is a delightful café nestled cozily under the colorful porticos of Via Santo Stefano. The eye-catching window-displays may pique your curiosity while passing by, but it’s the chic interior that truly adds charm to this locale. Walls adorned with quirky clocks and light fixtures, as well as a cheerful orange and purple color-scheme, will surely brighten your morning, if not your whole day.

The owner, Laura Ardagna, can be found personally taking orders from behind the counter. Short, always professional and with a smile as charismatic as the restaurant’s ambiance, Signora Ardagna conducts her wait staff around the hustle and bustle of the café like a true maestro. Colazione da Bianca attracts customers of all ages, and is always full, so come early to enjoy the vibrant energy.

Like any good pasticceria each baked good is made fresh in-house, which means the availability of items on the menu depends on the day. However, you can’t make a bad decision when it comes to the breakfast options. Ask for a recommendation from the cordial staff or simply take a look for yourself at each of the menu items displayed in the glass counter up front. On the day I went Signora Ardagna suggested I try the house specialty, a cream-filled apple pastry, which was superb. For those with an even sweeter tooth there are numerous great selections on the menu, best of which is the “Maddalena”: a lavish chocolate and pear cake served warm.

The breakfast menu has three pages dedicated solely to tea, with a variety of choices that would be the envy of any teahouse in London. However, to enjoy a breakfast like the true Italians, order the expertly made cappuccino and be prepared to scoop up every last drop of foam.

Just a few steps from the Due TorriColazione da Bianca is a tremendous option for breakfast or lunch.
