Project FICO - Eataly World

Project | Food | Wine | Best Of

On the edge of the town of Bologna, the world's largest centre, celebrating the excellence of Italian food: a place to enjoy the wonders of Italian cuisine and wines.

80,000 sqm for the widespreading of Italian food and wines culture through the reconstruction of its main production pipelines: food courts, teaching and research, food sales and galleries paths, demo products, integrated functions and supporting structures and an outside covered areas.

The project wants to show the world the culinary excellence and the beauty of the Italian agri-food sector, where its wonders will be presented and described from the birth in the mother land until the arrival in the plate and in the glass, enclosing in one place the local traditions, the culture of high quality food and skills of people who have always worked in the food sector.
It will be a place of food and environmental education, which will provide children and young people the opportunity to learn about the immense wealth of Italy, becoming young people the opportunity to learn about the immense wealth of Italy, becoming ambassador of the history and culture of Italian agri-food sector. 

A place of study and experience, where they can touch every single stage of the production chain.

THE PAI FUND
In the first quarter of 2014, Prelios SGR launched the real estate fund reserved to qualified investors "PAI" following to the tender procedure called for by the CAAB (Agriculture and Food Centre of Bologna).
The Fund PAI (Parchi Agroalimentari Italiani) managed by Prelios SGR, is the operating tool for the development and promotion of the Eataly World Park. The fund is dedicated to the investment in land and real estate assets to be used for projects aimed at the promotion of Italian wine and food excellences. Particularly, the FICO project involves farms and wineries, centres of production and processing of food products, research centres, sale and service.

MULTIMEDIA AREAS
The uniqueness of the project FICO lies in the integration between "core" functions of the agricultural sector and different target areas, to encourage visitors quicker understanding of the aims and themes supported by the project.

The provision of innovative multimedia areas, thanks to installations, allows the customers to virtually live new experiences, interactive explorations and multimedia tables, will let the aspects of set design and spectacular nature to amaze and fascinate the visitors, communicating in an immediate way the theme of each cluster while ensuring consistent communication and image uniformity, to create a more realistic contact to the themes represented.

The FICO project, which extends over 50,000 sqm assigned to "core" functions and 30,000 sqm to support structures, will show Italian food and wine from origin to fruition, in a sequence of highly suggestive settings, including: stables, aquariums, fields, gardens, production workshops, laboratories, served benches, grocers' shops, restaurants.

A real three-dimensional atlas, a taste and production path to appreciate Italian food in its incomparable excellence. 
FICO is a project promoted by local authorities, Italian and international players: CAAB, Municipality of Bologna, EATALY and Prelios SGR.
FICO is a place to excercise sensory education to food and biodiversity. Its goal is to make young people proud to belong to a country rich in biodiversity. FICO will contribute to the formation of the new generation, who wiell exploit the potential of Italian wine and Italian food to increase exports in the world.

 

The project aims to reconnect new generations and adults all around the world to food, to the agricultural world and its differences, through their real and complete experience and recovering the direct, physical contact with what we eat and the natural environment in which we live.

Education in FICO means fun, game, earth, animals, study, actions. It means knowing Italy from its deepest roots, starting with a trip of knowledge in the Italian agro-food chains. 
What is the wheat? How the bread is made? When and how to seed? Why are there white and darl bread loaves?
It means educating to choose, to consume, to the worth of food and its nutritional values, the attention to the environmental issues.

The cultural heritage of traditional craft shops regain strength in the 10,000 square meters that FICO devotes it through the organic food market. An area where you can taste the products made in the workshop, buy and participate to the manufacturer's tale.

In terms of positive effects on the real economy it is expected that there will be the involvement of more than 2,000 firms, particularly in the agri-food sector, and supply of activities and 700 inside the park. 

The excellent companies present in FICO are available to host and train specialized workers, in a shared and innovative way. The School of Trades will be created to allow the rediscovery of traditional trades and good practices.
