TIME TO CARE WITH THE FESTIVAL OF MEDICAL SCIENCE
Events | University Of Bologna | Medical Science
Bologna welcomes the 4th edition of the international medical-scientific event from 3rd to 6th of May, full of free open events
“Time to Care” is not only the title of the Festival of Medical Science 2018: it’s the core thematic and the ambitious mission of these four intense days of meetings, conferences and debates, off events, open days and special initiatives, all of them free and open to everyone.
Cassa di Risparmio Foundation and Museums of the City, in collaboration with Bologna University, promote a rich edition with over 70 events and more than 100 relators from all over the world. The Genus Bononiae venues, indeed, are the majestic background: a great occasion to meet the Nobel Prizes May-Britt Moser and Robert Lefkowitz, to discover the latest challenges and the progress made, but mostly to deepen a topic which is becoming more and more a focal key of the contemporary society: caring of health.
The Festival: five topics and big guests
The mind, its multiple mysteries and the fascinating role of science in exploring them. A deep travel into the conscience, the psychology and the time influences on brain is guided by the precious contribute of several experts: Semir Zeki, pioneer of “science of aesthetics”; Arnaldo Benini, expert of neurobiology and neurosurgery; or again, Tononi & Cirulli, world excellences in studies on correlation between sleep and conscience, whom theories have inspired the film director Johnatan Nolan in creating the famous HBO series Westworld.
Innovation & Technology
This is the most actual theme where you’ll find the newest horizons of medical progress. Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and stamina cells are at the centre of the principal debates and case studies shown regarding the regenerative medicine. This topic investigates very interesting focuses on ethics, Big Data value role on innovation, “organic creativity” and reflections on the most current issues like smoke damages and diabetes are planned during these four days.
The main goal of the medical-scientific community is to overcome the fake news around vaccines, allergies, abuse of antibiotics and to deepen particular topics like the story of acetylsalicylic acid, the hibernation or the development of molecular and genetical bioengineering new therapies.
Stefano Pilieri, Lorenzo Moretta, Marina Chiara Garassino are only some of the several experts that will talk about innovations in defeating tumors. About this delicate thematic, concepts like quality of time, health caring and the role taken by patients become extremely crucial.
The several aspects around wellness, nutrition disorders and culture of food deserve a special focus at FICO Fabbrica Italiana Contadina: an off event will take place on the whole day of Monday 7th May into the thematic agro-food park.
Off Events and Open Days
Not only medicine and science: the “Time of Caring” includes art and music. Festival of Medical Science proposes a rich program of theatre and musical shows and initiatives into the schools. You can live a different experience also thanks to the Open days, that will bring you directly into the hospital structures and see in practise how robots work in the surgery departments.
